Guided By Voices - Gold Star for Robot Boy (Live from “Austin City Limits”)
This here performance came from their farewell tour in ‘04, at which time they stopped by “Austin City Limits” and recorded a pretty full set.This song in particular was originally on Bee Thousand and supposedly is about a student Robert had while he was teaching elementary school (if you can believe he was once a teacher).
Anyway, I love Robert’s half-assed jumping jacks and full-assed high kicks. I kind of imagine Patrick from Poison Control Center being like this in twenty-five years. But without the beer gut.
